Document Editing Services

The Document Editing services currently include Proofreading, Copy Editing, Content Editing, and Visual Editing for resumes, cover letters, professional emails, email signatures, and blog/internet entries

There’s also an option to receive feedback and notes regarding any changes I’ve made to your submission (this is helpful and recommended for people who want to become more comfortable with composing written documents going forward).  

Proofreading is the most basic form of editing offered here.  It encompasses spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and basic grammatical corrections.  This service is best for documents that need very light editing before finally being put to use.  

  • Resume: $3.00 per page
  • Cover Letter: $3.50 per page
  • Email: $1.00 per five sentences
  • Blog/Internet Entry: $1.00 per five sentences
  • Inclusion of Editing Feedback and Notes: An additional $0.50

Copy Editing consists of spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and basic/intermediate grammatical corrections.  This service also includes assistance with flow, format, and some re-working of text where necessary.  For people who feel decent about their writing, but want to take it to the next level, the Copy Editing service is the perfect choice. 

  • Resume: $4.00 per page
  • Cover Letter: $5.00 per page
  • Email: $1.75 per five sentences
  • Blog/Internet Entry: $1.75 per five sentences
  • Inclusion of Editing Feedback and Notes: An additional $1.00

Content Editing includes spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and basic/intermediate/expert grammatical corrections.  This service involves deep editing of flow and format, and allows for intensive re-working/-writing of text and vocabulary where necessary.  Supplementary text may be added as needed, and that which deviates from standard expectations (examples: excessive page count, text-crowding, mandatory content inclusion/exclusion, etc.) will be addressed and, with your permission, handled accordingly.   

  • Resume: $5.25 per page
  • Cover Letter: $6.00 per page
  • Email: $2.00 per five sentences
  • Blog/Internet Entry: $2.00 per five sentences
  • Inclusion of Editing Feedback and Notes: An additional $1.75

Visual Editing pertains to the overall appearance of the submission.  Typeface, physical structure, spacing, shaping, and visual consistency are all included here.  The presentation of your work is crucial in for your first impression; for this reason, the Visual Editing service is deeply advised for job application materials.  Visual Editing does not include proofreading, copy editing, or content editing services – if desired in the editing process, those must be paid for separately.

  • Basic, Microsoft Word Resume: $6.00 per page
    • Color editing: An additional $1.00 per page
  • Creative, InDesign Resume: $9.00 per page
    • Color editing: An additional $3.00 per page
  • Basic, Microsoft Word Cover Letter: $3.00 per page
    • Color editing: An additional $0.50 per page
  • Creative, InDesign Cover Letter: $4.50 per page
    • Color editing: An additional $1.50 per page
  • Email: $0.50 per paragraph
  • Email Signature: $1.50
  • Inclusion of Editing Feedback and Notes: An additional $1.75

To submit a piece for editing, email amijsanghvi@gmail.com with the following information:

  • The specific service(s) desired (Proofreading, Copy Editing, Content Editing, and/or Visual Editing) and the type of content you’re submitting
  • Any priority areas that you have in mind for the editing process (example: grammatical corrections)
  • Relevant content information that you believe may be important during the editing process
  • The intended recipient(s) of your submission(s) (criteria strongly varies depending on the profession or purpose)
  • If any are present, your requested limitations regarding modification of the submission based on the description of your chosen services (examples: “Even though I’ve requested the Copy Editing service, please do not re-work or re-write any of the text without consulting me first”)
  • Whether you’d like feedback and notes regarding any changes made [at an additional fee]
  • Deadlines
  • Questions, concerns, and any additional details you wish to include.

Based on this information, I’ll respond to you with the total cost of the service(s) and, as I work through your submission, I’ll email you any additional information or permission(s) I may need from you.  I’ll email the finished product(s) to you for approval – upon your edited submission(s), feel free to mention any preferred touch-ups, minor preferences, or concerns you may have, and I’ll fix those for you. In the case of new instructions or a new vision, there may be increased costs.   

Please submit all Proofreading, Copy Editing, and Content Editing submissions as Microsoft Word Documents.  At this time, Visual Editing submissions will only be accepted as Microsoft Word or InDesign Documents.  Please do not submit PDF documents for editing.
